ABOUT TAKE FIVE
Take Five was born from a simple yet powerful ambition: to produce works that evoke emotions and resonate with audiences. Every project begins with a meeting, a spark, that deserves to be brought to the screen. This pursuit has guided Take Five since its inception, shaping a production company where humanity and artistry converge.
In 2009, Take Five took its first steps into live-action short films. In 2015, a pivotal encounter with director Sacha Feiner marked a turning point: Dernière porte au Sud (Last Door South), a multi-award-winning animated short (Magritte, Clermont-Ferrand), marked Take Five's entry into the world of animation. This success laid the foundation for enriching collaborations with talents such as Bruno Tondeur and Hannah Letaïf.
At the same time, Take Five boldly continued its exploration of live-action. In 2018, its first feature film, Emma Peeters, a bittersweet comedy, opened the Giornate degli Autori in Venice. This film embodies Take Five's DNA: cinema that is both demanding and accessible, rooted in emotion and designed to connect with audiences.
From there, Take Five increasingly fostered relationships with European partners. Among its standout projects, the documentary Misha and the Wolves (co-produced with MetFilm in the UK), presented at Sundance in 2021 and later released on Netflix, exemplifies this international dynamic. In 2023, Take Five co-produced Sirocco and the Kingdom of the Winds, a film by Benoit Chieux. The film received the prestigious Audience Award at the Annecy Festival.
More recently, Take Five co-produced Flow by Gints Zilbalodis, an animated feature film created in partnership with Latvia (Dream Well) and France (Sacrebleu Productions). This film became a global phenomenon: selected at over 160 festivals, it won more than 60 awards, including a Golden Globe, and securing two Oscar nominations: Best International Feature Film and Best Animated Feature. Flow is now distributed in over 50 territories, marking a major milestone in Take Five's history.
To support its growth, Take Five established Carbone 14, an animation studio designed to bring its projects to life. From the web series Boys Boys Boys to the feature film Flow, this studio has become a cornerstone of Take Five's animation endeavors.
Take Five has built a close-knit community of talents and partners who share a common ambition: to tell stories, whether in live-action or animation.
